Michael S. Nirenberg, DPM, DASFP

President

Dr. Nirenberg is a clinical and forensic podiatrist, who became involved in forensic podiatry in 1989 when he published the paper "Forensic Methods and the Podiatric Physician," in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He has assisted in criminal and civil investigations, conducted research, written and lectured extensively on pedal evidence, and continues to practice podiatry.

John A. DiMaggio, DPM, B.S. Pharm., DASFP

Past-President

​Dr. DiMaggio started his forensic practice in 1989 in Tempe, Arizona. He founded the ASFP in 2003. In 1984, he served as a certified peace officer in the state of Arizona and worked patrol for 15 years with the Mesa Arizona Police Department. He often assisted the Crime Scene Unit and processed crime scenes.  He has testified in pedal cases for the prosecution and the defense. He has recently been sworn in to the Polk County Sheriffs Office in Dallas Oregon, as a Cold Case Investigator and is working on the Cold Case Team.

     

He is a Member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the International Association for Identification. He has lectured nationally and internationally. He authored a chapter in “Forensic Medicine of the Lower Extremity” by J. Rich and co-authored the first text of its type titled, "Forensic Podiatry-Principles and Methods,": Second edition, CRC Press, 2017

Dr. Bryan Kagan, DPM, DASFP

Secretary / Treasurer

Dr. Bryan B. Kagan is an adjunct instructor of forensic podiatry at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, NY and forensic club advisor. He is a member of the IAI- International Association for Identification Forensic Podiatry Science and Practice Subcommittee and is a member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. Dr. Kagan has a private practice in White Plains, NY and is on staff at White Plains Hospital. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and Associate member of the America Bar Association.

Steve Wachter, DPM, DASFP

Member at Large

Practice in multispecialty clinic in southern Minnesota for the past 20 years. Member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Member of the Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association. Board certified in Foot Surgery. Member of  the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Member of the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons. Member of the forensic podiatry subcommittee of the International Association for Identification. Member of the Minnesota IAI. Founding member of the American Society of Forensic Podiatrists. 

Victor Quijano, DPM, PhD

Member at Large

Victor Quijano DPM PhD is in private practice in NH. Dr. Quijano received his DPM from Temple University in 2002 and a Ph.D. In molecular endocrinology from University of Wisconsin in 1998. He holds board certifications from ABMSP, ABLES, and ABFAS. In addition to lecturing, he is also a manuscript reviewer for JFAS. He serves on the board of directors with ABMSP, where he is involved with publications, resident and student membership, and with ANSI, serves on the standard development organization work-group. .  

Pablo Martínez-Escauriaza Peral DPM, PhD

Member at Large

Dr. Martínez-Escauriaza Peral, was born in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. His clinical specialties are Health Emergencies and Podiatric Surgery. He holds and international PhD in Forensic Anthropology. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona in Podiatric Medicine. He is pioneer in Spain to work as a forensic podiatrist for the spanish police and collaborates with other international police agencies. His commitment with proper application of forensic sciences is the reason of promoting the introduction of Forensic Podiatry in formal studies. He is currently taking the Master in Scientific Police.

Christine Miller, DPM

Christine Miller DPM recently completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Patient Safety at the University of Florida-College of Medicine, Jacksonville. Dr. Miller is a board certified Clinical Wound Specialist. She has served as Chair of the Department of Podiatric Medicine and assistant professor of Lower Extremity Radiology at Temple University.
